Fish & Bird have just released their 3rd album, “Every Whisper is a Shout Across the Void”. The group, once known as a quirky folk duo, have grown into something much more, both in membership and sound.  Lead singer Taylor Ashton delivers the first, soaring word of the new disk a cappela. His syncopated clawhammer banjo floats in underneath, soon joined by the unmistakeable voice of Adam Iredale-Gray’s fiddle. For the album’s first, tense moments, this is the original duo that pushed the boundaries of folk on their 2007 self-titled debut and 2009′s “Left Brain Blues”. However, when the rhythm section of Zoe Guigueno (upright bass), Ryan Boeur (guitar), and Ben Kelly (drums) kick in, the sparse intro transforms into the frantic fullness of the song Well Run Dry, and the band introduces their cohesive new sound.  A departure from the multitracked sound of previous albums, “Every Whisper…” was recorded mostly live off the floor, but was produced by Iredale-Gray like all Fish & Bird recordings to date.
