Petunia & The Vipers ~

Petunia is more than just an entertainer, he’s a modern musical enigma, and his live show is a hillbilly-rockabilly-swing-ragtime-goodtime-thunderously-rolling-one-of-a-kind-you-don’t-want-to-miss-this-sort-of-a-show!

Rich high & lonesome vocals, ferocious screams and yodels, and a country-swing or rockabilly beat with a twisted, punk edge help describe a Petunia performance; you might feel like you’re in a Coen Brothers movie. Imagine that David Lynch and Nick Cave had a hillbilly baby, that yodeled…or Tom Waits meets Elvis at Woody Guthrie’s hobo junction.  Petunia is an adventure seeker who plays throughout North America either solo, in combination, or with his Vancouver-based band, The Vipers. Made up of Petunia (vox/guitar), Stephen Nikleva (guitar), Jimmy Roy (Lap/Pedal Steel), Marc L’Esperance (drums, b.vox), and Patrick Metzger (upright bass), Petunia & The Vipers are absolutely cookin’; stirring up anyone with a heartbeat. Petunia & The Vipers are a Canadian treasure rapidly gaining acclaim across North American and European markets.

The Petunia & The Vipers release is a sumptuous collection that’s earned rave reviews. With rockabilly, country swing, sweet melodic ballads, and just the right amount of darkness and grit, it leaves you wanting to start back at the beginning as soon as you finish listening to it. Recorded at The Sound Factory in Hollywood, CA, Petunia & The Vipers was produced by Petunia & Phil Sgriccia, and mixed by Marc L’Esperance with additional recording at Heavyosonic in Vancouver. It was mastered by Bernie Grundman, who also mastered Tom Waits’ latest recording, and it’s available on vinyl, CD and for download.
