RECAP: Oliver Swain’s “In a Big Machine” Debut
March 2nd, 2011 . by Mod MayThe February tour was a smashing success and the world is becoming highly aware of Oliver Swain and BIG MACHINE! The album is being played across Canada on radio, with special note to CBC, CKUA, CJSR, CJSW, CKXU, and CJAM. It’s reached as far as The Netherlands, Australia, and has been spun on many a US radio station to date. It debuted at #1 on several radio stations in Canada and made #32 overall on CHARTAttack as of March 1. Swaths of people have been contacting me for sale copies of “In A Big Machine” but due to a strange anomaly with CD Baby, it is yet unavailable. Rest assured, the album will be up for sale very soon and I will post a link to it here. Remember to visit Oliver’s website frequently for updates as well!

Here’s what some other folks have to say about “In A Big Machine”:
“It’s the Zen rock garden of American old-time music.”
Devon Leger, Hearth Music
“Absolutely amazing stuff. I was mesmerized from start to finish… In a Big Machine is poised to be one of the best albums of 2011, regardless of genre.”
Kenna Burima, Calgary Folk Music Festival, CJSW, FFWD
“Oliver Swain’s brilliant vocals and genre-agnostic approach to acoustic music make In a Big Machine one of the most exciting new releases on the Canadian folk scene in some time. The fine picking and crystalline production make this release a pleasure to listen to, but it is Swain’s unique vocal style, a fusion of bluegrass and jazz influences, that creates spine-tingling moments in his debut solo effort.”
Lucinda Chodan, Victoria Times Colonist
