Fish & Bird are ready to hit the road full force after a winter spent spread out across the country from each other, a well deserved rest after touring around 8 months of the year for the past several years. Apparently though, a ‘break’ for these musicians meant fiddler Adam Iredale-Gray toured to Europe with Vancouver’s own Jenny Ritter, and banjo player/vocalist Taylor Ashton released an album and toured around Canada with his side project Bull Kelp, a duo with former Fish & Bird bass player Zoe Guigueno.

Now they’re headed out on the road to do what they love best and prepare for recording the follow-up to the acclaimed and nominated Every Whisper Is A Shout Across The Void. The new album will be recorded on idyllic Mayne Island at Fiddle Head Studios, and the band is ecstatic to have Guigueno; recently recruited to Boston’s Joy Kills Sorrow, with them for the recording. The yet to be titled album will be released in early 2014, and the band will be breaking out some new material on this tour. For fun in the meantime the band put together a limited edition cassette-only compilation called “10 Golden Hits”, which includes one brand new song and a few favorites from the previous three albums. Fans can pick up this nifty little number on Fish & Bird’s Bandcamp Page. They also plan to bring their music to the UK next year, after being snapped up by an agent at this year’s International Folk Alliance Conference, and will play a few summer festivals and shows this year while putting together the album.
