After a rip-roaring start to 2013 that included a full UK tour, Celtic Connections Showcase, Folk Alliance Showcase, the band took a little time off while Petunia himself completed a whistlestop tour through the western provinces, and then settled back in to compose music for a dance productions in Vancouver. Also this spring, recording was finished for the next Petunia & The Vipers album in 3 feverish nights of alt-country twang, rock ‘n roll, and eastern flavors, finished off with stories of romance, the strange, and even a few tracks familiar fans will have NEVER heard. It’s chock full of heavy-hitting players, and though there is no set release date yet, a vote of confidence from it’s creator “possibly even more awesome than the last release judging by what I heard”, makes it an eagerly anticipated recording.

Phil Alvin (The Blasters) calls Petunia & The Vipers “”One of my favorite bands to see and play with.”, and Bob Harris from the BBC calls their self-titled album “Hybrid musical style…edge of punk appreciation…this is an amazing album…a whole range of different styles” while Americana UK said it was “Extraordinary – a left field genius – one of the best releases of the year.”. Come out to a show and see why even the musical peers of Petunia & The Vipers say “That’s not a band. It’s another world.” (Jonathan Byrd)

“Here is a band you just can’t pigeonhole, for their music seems to drift across almost every genre of American roots and popular music. While it’s rockabilly it’s also western swing, old style country, jazz, blues, ragtime, old school rock and hints of punk and rock.”
