Yukon Rap/Hip Hop Artist Kelvin Smoler is Just One of the KIDS
ARTIST:
Kelvin - Lyrics/Vocals/Beats
Jakub Evolved - Lyrics/Vocals
Jay Mizz - Lyrics/Vocals
MODUS OPERANDI:
KIDS is more than your average hip hop group. It's an acronym standing for Kinetic Intelligence Developing Soul, and that's what these three young men are doing, growing the mind and developing the soul through music. They have embraced the opportunity to rap about subject matter that is close to themselves, and explores their passions, pride and inner thoughts. They are witty and calculated in their delivery, finding inspiration in everyday activity and their own evaluation of life. KIDS strive to express themselves honestly through quality music, and incorporate influences of multiple genres in their beats. They're based in collaboration, and each member of the group continues to produce their own music and work with others while KIDS continues.
PHYSICAL EVIDENCE:
KIDS have just finished recording a mixtape which will be available in Spring 2012, but Yukoner Kelvin released his own album, I'd Rather This Place in 2010, thanks in part to the Yukon Film and Sound Commission. You can pick up Kelvin's album at live shows, and listen to or download a few tracks from it here.

THE BACK STORY:
Kelvin was born and raised in the Yukon, but met Jakub Evolved and Jay Mizz in Vancouver after Kelvin had finished recording school, and the three began to collaborate about a year ago. They hopped on the road only months after agreeing to work together, throwing down around Manitoba and Northern Ontario, where Evolved and Mizz are originally from. KIDS have played countless venues in Vancouver, and Kelvin himself has entertained audiences at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, the Arctic Winter Games, Atlin Music Festival and Dawson City Music Festival.
