Prairie Balladeer SCOTT COOK Delivers His Third Album
Contact ModMay Promotions for Press Opportunities with Scott Cook or to receive a promotional copy of Moonlit Rambles. PLEASE INCLUDE SHOWS IN LOCAL EVENTS LISTINGS WHERE POSSIBLE.
Edmonton troubadour Scott Cook is a busy man. Between organizing and playing over 150 shows a year while crossing the continent living out of his van, he's managed to record and release three full-length albums within the last four years. His brand new release, Moonlit Rambles is a self-produced collection of travels and tales, with contributions from many of his contemporaries and close musical friends. To celebrate the release, Scott and his band The Long Weekends are taking their danceable blend of folk, roots and reggae on a two-month tour of Alberta and BC. Band mates Jesse Dee and Jacquie B are along for the ride, opening shows with songs from their upcoming release Our Ghosts Will Fill These Walls. If you've never had the pleasure of seeing Scott Cook live and in person, don't miss your chance to be musically delighted and completely engaged. His brand of protest folk and storytelling balladry is music for today, with pearls of the old time masters flowing throughout. Scott's stage presence captivates the audience as if he were speaking to friends gathered around a campfire, sharing stories and a few laughs over a song.
"Scott Cook has distilled his travels down into songs powered by a sharp eye for imagery, a healthy dose of humanity, and that unforgettable voice, that at the same time intones the rigors of the road and the most comfortable couch you have ever slept on."
David Francey, 3x Juno winner
Moonlit Rambles shows the prairie balladeer in fine form, and reminds us of what music can be, well away from the big lights, the celebrity gossip machine, the genre specific cliches, and the endless pretense; a conduit for truth, change, inspiration, healing, and community. Three-part harmonies, touches of electric, acoustic and tenor guitars, accordion, fiddle, organ, dobro, and pedal steel colour the arrangements, but at the heart of things is a mellow fingerstyle groove and a plain-spoken clarity that's rarely heard these days. A true wandering minstrel, Scott has taken his tunes to festivals, clubs, cafes and house concerts from Vancouver to Halifax, California to Texas to Michigan, and many places in between, as well as touring in Taiwan.
